“Can I talk to you?”
The question left the blonde’s lips without even a second thought as she followed her friend back to her room. They had been hanging out all day and Jo had been meaning to bring up a topic that had been weighing on her mind for a while but she didn’t know how. She figured she’d just come out with it. It was that or not bring it up at all and she needed to talk to someone about everything that had been going on.
“Of course! What about?”
Camille had always been a great friend to Jo and she was the first person the blonde thought of whenever she needed to talk. Jo didn’t exactly have any other friends quite a close as Camille or even around the same age. It was mostly Camille and the guys and she wasn’t going to talk tothemabout any of this.
They had gotten to Jo’s room by then and, shutting the door, Jo tried to figure the best way to go about bringing up the topic, joining her friend on the bed.
“Well….it’s about James….and Kendall too if I’m being honest.”
That caught the brunette’s attention and she shifted her gaze to the blonde sitting before her, the plastic containing the cupcake she was trying to release half opened in her hand.
“Go on.”
“Well….I don’t know where to start. I guess…. yeah that’s a good place. I know about Kendall and Lucy.”
Jo still hadn’t gotten used to the fact that Kendall was with someone else considering everything that had happened between them and how suddenly it had ended but she knew she couldn’t have expected him to wait around for her for three years. It wasn’t fair to him.
Jo couldn’t look at Camille, knowing she should keep going and she wasn’t sure she’d want to see the girl’s expression once she had finished.
“….and James…..well I don’t know what to say there.”
“Please don’t tell me you like him.”
Camille’s comment was pleading and Jo couldn’t hide the slight wince she made as she prepared to say what she knew might be the worst thing to leave her mouth at a time like this.
“I might.”
Jo didn’t have time to prepare for what happened next and she could only blame herself as the cupcake Camille had finally released from it’s plastic confines hit her directly in the face, bits of it clinging to strands of her hair as Camille coughed.
“Thanks, Camille. I really wanted half-eaten cupcake in my hair.”

Groaning quietly to herself, Jo rested her head in her hands, blocking out her surroundings while she tried to forget what she had walked in on not 15 minutes earlier. It wasn’t easy to forget though and it had the blonde craving a distraction. Not long after the thought entered her mind, a throat was cleared somewhere near her and, looking up to locate the source of the noise, she groaned again, resting her head flat on the table she was sitting at.
“Not today, James. I beg you. Today isn’t a good day to be starting your shit.”
She didn’t think he’d listen to her but she couldn’t help but hope that he’d take notice of the state she was in and decide to be nice and leave her be. She couldn’t be surprised when she felt the chair next to her move before being pulled back in as James sat down next to her.
“What happened?”
The question had Jo sitting up, looking at James with a look of pure confusion clearly visible on her face. Pulling herself together after the moment of shock, she shrugged, running a hand through her hair, pulling it away from her face.
“Kendall and Lucy.”
She didn’t really like talking about Kendall with his friends so she didn’t really want to go into details on how Kendall was looking at the brunette the way he used to look at her or how she was clearly flirting with him. As much as Jo hated it, she wasn’t in any position to tell him what he could do or who he could date but that didn’t mean she liked seeing him with anyone else.
“Oh.”
The one word irked the blonde and she shifted, facing the brunette next to her, her expression reading annoyance as she stared at him.
“Oh?! Just oh?! I mean, you must have known something! You were hinting about him not loving me. Why didn’t you just come out and say it so I didn’t waste my time thinking I still stood a chance?!”
She didn’t mean to snap at him but she couldn’t entirely help it. She was hurt and everything was just starting to sink in and it all seemed to go back to James somehow. She had to admit, the fact he hadn’t left yet or said any of his normal remarks still had her in shock and she just shook her head, pushing herself up and starting to walk away from him, not wanting to wait around for whatever he would say if he said anything. She only got a few steps before she heard him rise to his feet and follow behind her. Not stopping, Jo continued towards the door, getting halfway before James grabbed her hand, making her freeze mid-step.
Glancing back at him, she glances between their joined hands and his face, trying to get some sort of idea what was going through his head. Her thoughts were halted when he closed the distance between them, wrapping his arms around her in a hug. Jo couldn’t help the soft sigh that slipped from her lips as she returned the hug, leaning into the embrace. She was perfectly content with staying in his arms but James had other ideas and was the first to break the hug, giving her a warm smile.
“Coffee?”
The question from his lips drew a much needed laugh from the blondes body and smiling, she nodded.
“Sounds great.”

acciokendallschmidt:

“Why won’t you make out with me?!”
The question had been one that Jo hadn’t managed to avoid since arriving back at the Palm Woods and she couldn’t help but be annoyed hearing it yet again. Turning to face the location of the person who was wearing on her nerves, it took everything for her to not yell at him.
“I don’t want to, James. Seriously. If I wanted to, I would have by now. Give up already.”
James wasn’t having any of that though and was already moving towards the blonde who noticed just seconds after the first step and was already stepping away from him.
“Everyone wants to make out with me! You are no exception! You’re just denying what you know is true! Come on, Jo. It’s inevitable. You know it.”
Shaking her head at the brunette, Jo crossed the room, opening the door, pausing in the doorway. She had intended to hang with Logan but she couldn’t stand to be in the same room as James for a second longer. Sighing, she turned back towards the brunette, catching a faint glimmer of hope that she had changed her mind. Rolling her eyes, she took a breath before speaking.
“If you see Logan, tell him I was looking for him.”
Not a minute later, she stepped out into the hall, walking away from the room, wanting to put as much space between James and herself as possible. It was already hard enough constantly turning him down. She didn’t need the added difficulty.

acciokendallschmidt:

“It’s good to be back.”
The statement slipped from the blonde’s mouth as she took in the view around her. She had just gotten back to the Palm Woods for a break from filming which she couldn’t have been happier about. Everything seemed exactly as it had been when she left. There were more unfamiliar faces but Jo knew that was to be expected. Every year more people showed up, chasing dreams of acting or singing and they usually ended up there at some point.
She had wandered through the lobby towards the pool, mostly just reveling in the fact that she was back even if it wasn’t permanent.
Letting her eyes scan her surroundings, finally landing on an all too familiar face as the person seemed to just notice her standing near the doorway to the lobby. His expression seemed to be a mixture of shock, surprise, and something she couldn’t quite decipher so she just pushed it aside, sending a small wave and a smile his way before walking back through to the lobby, deciding unpacking was a good idea, knowing it might take her a while and she wouldn’t feel like doing it later.
